Several Indian states and union territories have announced new travel guidelines, night curfews and even lockdowns in order to control the spread of the pandemic in the country.
Keeping the ever-changing nature of these guidelines in mind, several major Indian airlines are now offering free date changes on domestic flight bookings made within certain time frames.
These airlines are: IndiGo, SpiceJet, GoAir and AirAsia India.

Here are the major details:
IndiGo
Budget carrier IndiGo is offering an unlimited ‘change fee waiver’ for the domestic flights booked with the airline between April 17 – April 30, 2021 (including both these dates).
For the flight bookings made during the above mentioned period, ‘change fee’ will be waived off in case of any changes made to the travel date. Along with this, there will be no restrictions on the changed travel dates.
However, travellers must note that the offer will not apply if they cancel the booking or change the sector, in which cases the ‘cancellation fee’ will be chargeable at the current applicable rates.
This offer by IndiGo is applicable for all domestic travel bookings on selective fare options (Regular Fares, Flexi plus Fares and Family Fares) for one-way, connecting and round-trip flights. However, the offer is not applicable on group bookings.
SpiceJet
SpiceJet has introduced a ‘Zero Change Fee Offer’ for travellers who have booked direct domestic flights with the airline between April 17 – May 10, 2021 for travel between April 17 – May 15, 2021.
To avail the change fee waiver, the booking must be modified at least 5 days before the flight departure date. Standard charges will be applicable for bookings changed within 5 days of the flight departure date.
Along with this, fare difference will be applicable for flight changes and shall be payable by the customer. The change fee waiver shall be offered only once. In case the flight is changed by the customer for the second time, then applicable change fee as per standard terms will be charged by SpiceJet.
The ‘Zero Change Fee Offer’ is applicable only on bookings made under the offer fare and is not valid for group bookings.
GoAir
GoAir will be offering ‘Zero Rescheduling Fee’ for all domestic bookings made with the airline between April 17 – April 30, 2021 for travel between April 17 – April 30, 2021.
To avail the change fee waiver, the flight booking must be modified at least two hours before the flight departure. The offer however, shall not apply if the customer cancels the booking or changes the sector, in which cases the ‘cancellation fee’ will be chargeable at currently applicable rates.
The waiver of change fee can be availed any number of times until April 30, 2021.
Along with this, fare difference will be applicable for flight changes and shall be payable by the customer. The offer is applicable for all domestic travel bookings for one-way, connecting, and round-trip flights with GoAir. However, it is not applicable for group bookings.
AirAsia India
AirAsia India will not be charging a change fee for changes made to all domestic flight bookings made with the airline between now and May 15, 2021.
The airline has further stated that there is no travel period restriction, that is, bookings made during the offer period mentioned above will be entitled to free date change beyond the offer period as well.
Travellers can make multiple number of date changes up to two hours before the flight departure time.
Fare difference, if any, will be applicable. If the customer cancels the booking, a penalty will also be applicable.
