China is all set to open the world’s first underground hotel which will be 300 feet into the ground. WOW!
Rather than going tall and obnoxious into the sky, Intercontinental Hotels decided to dig deep. Renovating an old quarry in Songjiang, they built the Shanghai Wonderland. This hotel has 16 of its 18 floors completely below the surface of the Earth.
At the bottom of this hotel will be a pool of water with 2 floors submerged beneath the waves.
According to the Intercontinental, the construction of this hotel took 10 years, 5000 architects, engineers and workers to complete the project.
