Western Railway Cancels Several Trains Due to Cyclone Biparjoy

Cyclone Biparjoy is likely to enter Southwest Rajasthan on June 16, according to an official of the Jaipur Meteorological Centre. Keeping this in mind, the North Western Railway (NWR) has announced the cancellation of several train services in the region.

The Western Railway on Monday short-terminated more than 50 trains heading to the coastal areas of Gujarat in view of powerful cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ and is considering the cancellation of 95 more trains over the next three days.

Indian Railways has also activated the disaster management room and also opened emergency control rooms in several districts of Gujarat to ensure smooth rail functioning. 

Emergency control rooms have been opened in Bhavnagar, Rajkot, Ahmedabad, and Gandhidham. Additional helpline numbers have also been activated.
