In order to prevent the spread of the Omicron variant, fully vaccinated flyers heading to the US starting from 12:01 am EST on December 6, 2021 will need a negative RT-PCR test report issued within 24 hours of departure, rather than the currently applicable 72 hours.

This will apply to all the international travellers regardless of nationality and vaccination status.
This tighter testing timeline provides an added degree of public health protection as scientists continue to assess the Omicron variant.

The US is also extending its mask requirement on all domestic flights and public transportation till March 18. The changes are part of a broader plan to fight against the virus as the world enters its third year of the pandemic.
