Swabhimani Express, the specially chartered train, was carrying close to 1,500 farmers of the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee. The farmers were a part of a large protest, held on 20th November, demanding relief from debts and to get better prices for their produce.

As per the sources, the Agra controller is likely to be responsible for the train ending up in the wrong state. From Mathura, the train had to take the Western Railway route but somehow ended up taking the Central railway tracks.

This situation created a rage in the farmers and they demanded an answer to how this mix up occurred. They protested on the roads and even stopped a goods train. The train master took immediate action and within half an hour, Swabhimani Express was redirected on its original course.
