After a series of train derailments in the country, another potential train accident was averted on Monday- all thanks to the quick response and alertness of the locomotive pilot.
More Details
The incident happened when the chennai-bound Pinakini Express, which left from Vijayawada on Monday morning, was heading to Sunduru railway station at around 6.40 AM. The pilot realized that there were cracks in the railway tracks and without wasting a second, he immediately applied brakes and managed to bring the train to a halt.
The man instantly informed the engineering staff about the incident and as a result, the repair team arrived quickly at the spot. The team fixed all the rail breakage and the train resumed its services by 8.15 AM.
However, despite the immediate application of brakes by the pilot, some coaches had already crossed the track. The South Indian Railways have applauded the motorman’s instant action that saved lives of passengers.
