With the temperature soaring high every day, we can’t imagine our lives without air conditioners. Beating the heat in the times of COVID-19 is even more challenging.
Here’re some Dos & Don’ts to follow for the safe operation of air conditioners during the pandemic:
AC Guidelines for residences & standalone offices:
1. These are the places with the least exposure and controlled environment. Window fitted desert coolers, ACs (Window/split) and fans should be used.
2. Temperature and humidity range should be maintained.
3. There should be doors & windows for the maximum fresh air intake.
4. These places should have exhaust fans so that the air can be replaced.
AC Guidelines for meeting rooms & dispensaries:
1. These are the areas with moderate exposure and concentration. Window fitted desert coolers, room ACs, VRV / VRF and fans should be used at these places.
2. Temperature and humidity range should be maintained.
3. There should be facilities for windows & exhaust fans.
AC Guidelines for institutions:
1. These are the areas with maximum exposure and concentration. Window fitted desert coolers, room ACs, VRV / VRF can be used at these places.
2. Along with maintaining the temperature, windows & doors should be opened for fresh air intake.
3. The usage of central AC should be avoided in these places as much as possible.
AC Guidelines for hospitals & isolation wards:
1. These are the areas with ultimate exposure and concentration. Temperature and humidity must be maintained as the general guidelines at these places.
2. There must be adequate room ventilation.
3. These rooms should have standalone ACs and shouldn’t be a part of the central AC system.
4. If air conditioning is not available, then negative pressure should be created by putting up 3-4 exhaust fans driving the air out of the room.
