Railways has Distributed over 8.5 Lakh Cooked Meals to the Poor

Since March 28, Railways has distributed over 8.5 lakh cooked meals to the poor and needy. Of these, over 6 lakh meals have been provided by the IRCTC, about 2 lakh meals have been served by the Railway Protection Force and nearly 1.5 lakh meals have been provided by NGOs working with the Railways.


Railways has Responded to Over 2 Lakh Queries in the First 2 Weeks of Lockdown

The national transporter has been monitoring its helplines 24×7 since the lockdown to facilitate the general public. Over 2 lakh queries have been answered by railway personnel in the first two weeks, out of which over 90 per cent were handled through direct phone interaction.

In a heartwarming gesture, the railways transported 20 litres of camel milk to a woman in Mumbai after she tweeted about its non-availability due to the lockdown for her three-and-a-half-year-old autistic child, who is allergic to goat, cow and buffalo milk.


Railways is Running Special Trains to Transport Perishable Food Items

The Railways is running special trains to transport perishable food items including fruits, vegetables, milk and seeds across the country so that there is no shortage of these products during the lockdown. Till now, 62 routes have been identified and 171 time-tabled trains are being run on these routes.
