Today marks the beginning of the grand Ardh Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj. Approximately 12 million pilgrims from across the globe reached Sangam for the first Shahi Snan. Sadhus of 13 Akharas took dip in the holy waters this morning.
It is believed that a bath at Sangam during this seven-week event cleanses the soul and frees one from the cycle of life and death.
