One-third operations of T1 which were to be shifted to the newly renovated T2 on 29th October are now postponed until January 4th. All the domestic flights including IndiGo and SpiceJet will continue to operate from T1. Only GoAir flights will operate from IGI Airport’s T2 from October 29th.
Aditya Ghosh, IndiGo’s President, has been pointing out that partial shifting of terminals will create chaos. It will be inconvenient for flyers and many will turn up at wrong terminals. In the interest of passengers, Aviation Secretary, Mr. R N Choubey asked airport operator DIAL (Delhi International Airport Limited) to postpone the shifting process for some time and work on finding a sustainable solution.
Pradeep Panicker, DIAL’s chief commercial officer, in his recent interview said, “From January 4, 2018, the flights of IndiGo operating to and from Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru shall operate from T2”. He also added that, “If DIAL or any passenger suffers any loss, damage, cost or expenses due to the adamant approach of IndiGo from shifting one-third of their current operations at T1 to T2, it shall be to the sole account of IndiGo and which it shall be liable to compensate to DIAL and passengers.”
