Keeping the safety of travellers at the forefront, the government of Tamil Nadu has issued fresh guidelines for all rail passengers coming to Tamil Nadu from other states and union territories.
The new guidelines, which were posted on the official Twitter handle of the Southern Railways, have already come into effect.

Take a look at the new protocol for rail passengers entering Tamil Nadu:
> Thermal screening is mandatory for all passengers.
> All passengers (other than those travelling from Maharashtra and Kerala) have to self-monitor their health for 14 days. However, if during this period they develop fever, cough or breathlessness, then they shall visit the nearest health facility for treatment.
> All passengers travelling to Tamil Nadu from Maharashtra and Kerala have to undergo seven days of home quarantine and seven days of self-monitoring their health. However, if during this period they develop fever, cough or breathlessness, then they shall visit the nearest health facility for treatment.
> Symptomatic passengers coming from other states and union territories will have to undergo testing:
(i) If they test positive and are symptomatic, they will be taken for hospital isolation. However, if they test positive and are asymptomatic, they will be taken to a COVID care centre.
(ii) If they test negative and are asymptomatic, they will be advised to self-monitor their health for 14 days.
(iii) If they test negative and they are symptomatic, they will be taken for hospital isolation and their further treatment will be decided based on the medical opinion of the hospital authorities.

Passengers must note that the above guidelines are also applicable on travellers coming to Tamil Nadu from other states and union territories by road and by air.
