A gateway to Southeast Asia, Singapore is an amalgamation of vibrant cultures and a gracious lifestyle. On one hand, it boasts of rich flora and fauna, while on the other hand, it has some swanky malls and mind-blowing skyscrapers to flaunt. This 5-day itinerary for Singapore will surely make your travel hassle free and help you get the best of it.
There are many direct and indirect flights that ply from New Delhi to Singapore on a regular basis. To get the best deals on flights from New Delhi to Singapore, book your tickets in advance.
Day 1: Day at leisure / Night Safari Tour
Welcome to Singapore-one of the smallest, safest and cleanest countries of Asia. You can spend the first day lazing at your hotel room or can explore the nearby markets. Give an adventurous start to your Singapore trip by opting for Night Safari Tour. Watching wild animals resting in their natural habitat in the darkness of the night is surely a sight to behold. The night safari starts with a Thumbuakar Tribal Performance, which gives a glimpse of the life of the tribal people. Later, there is a guided tram tour, which takes you through 7 geographical regions of the world. After the safari, the Creatures of the Night Show is organised, which is another major attraction.
Some Insider’s Tips –
- Get discounted tickets for Night Safari, the Zoo, River Safari and Jurong Bird Park by opting for Park Hopper ticket package.
- To see the big cats, reach there by 7:30 PM, which is their feeding time.
- Don’t think of walking through the park as it will be too tiring.
- Carrying a mosquito repellent will be a good idea.
Day 2: Singapore City Tour / Transfer to Cruise Terminal
After a sound sleep, gear up for a sightseeing tour of this mind-blowing destination. Start the sightseeing with a visit to the Gardens of the Bay, which is one of the best 10 indoor gardens of the world and my personal favourite. With more than 2,200 species of around 500,000 plants, this place is a delight for nature lovers and botanists. Flower Dome features 9 lush green gardens from 5 continents. After exploring this attraction, head towards Merlion Statue, which is among the most prominent places to visit in Singapore. Don’t forget to get a picture clicked with the huge statue.
Another stop for the day will be ChinaTown, which is the ideal place to buy reasonable souvenirs for family and friends back home. Later, if you are not short of time, head towards the Chocolate Factory and buy the best chocolates of the region. End the day’s sightseeing with a visit to the Jewellery Shop. Head towards the hotel and pack your bags to board the cruise.
Some Insider’s Tips –
- Hire a local guide who can inform you about all the places.
- Don’t forget to carry sunglasses and a hat with you as it is usually sunny.
- While getting your tickets for the cruise, make sure that you ask for window side cabins. I missed it and regretted it later.
Day 3: Day at leisure in Star Gemini Cruise
Welcome to the huge Star Gemini Cruise! The cruise is huge and will surely give you a feel of Titanic. Spend the morning sunbathing on the deck of the cruise or spend some quality time at the jacuzzi. Buffet meals prepared by gourmet chefs are served in the huge dining hall that offers a mind-blowing view of the ocean. For recreation, there is a casino, library, play room and shopping mall inside the cruise. The cruise stops at Port Klang from where you can opt for a sightseeing tour of Kuala Lumpur or take a taxi to explore the island. With many live performances on-board, your night at the cruise will surely be memorable. Next day, on arrival at Singapore, check-out from the cruise and head towards your hotel.
Some Insider’s Tips –
- When out for sightseeing, reach the cruise on time as you will be in big trouble if you miss it.
- If interested in swimming, carry a swimming costume with you if don’t want to buy expensive dresses from the cruise.
- Carry a sunblock with you if don’t want to flaunt your tan.
Day 4: Visit the Resorts World Sentosa
Located on Sentosa Island is the mind-blowing Resorts World Sentosa. This is definitely my favourite place to spend the whole day in Singapore. You can start the day with a visit to Universal Studios, which is a huge theme park. There are seven themed zones inside the park each based on a blockbuster movie or show. If you are Shrek fan, then you will love the huge castle and the 7D movie played inside it. Some of the rides are too scary to be taken by kids. The set of The Mummy is truly incredible and is definitely my favourite. Every set has many shops from where you can buy beautiful souvenirs. Also, there are more than 20 restaurants inside the studios. After spending quality time here, head towards the S.E.A Aquarium, which is home to more than 10,0000 species of marine animals of 800 species. It is the best place to get an insight into the underwater world.
Some Insider’s Tips –
- Don’t plan anything else on the same day as you can spend the whole day here.
- For vegetarians, there is a restaurant at the sets of The Mummy in Universal Studios.
Day 5: Trip to the Sentosa Island
Sentosa Island is one of the most prominent attractions of this country. It is a perfect place for a family day out. On arrival, you have to take the cable car from HarbourFront to the island. The view of the Mount Faber and the harbour from the cable car is sure to spellbind you. After the cable car, head towards Port of Lost Wonder–a pirate themed water park. Skyline Luge is another major attraction, which can be enjoyed by people all age groups (not for toddlers). Want to add some more fun to your trip, enjoy a swim at the coasts. Later, head towards your hotel and bid adieu to the wonderful destination of Singapore.
Some Insider’s Tips –
- If you have a flight to catch on the same day, it’s preferred that you keep some buffer time and leave the island on time.
- The best place for Indians to savour mouth-watering delicacies is Little India. For vegetarians, my suggestion for the best places to dine at will be New Delhi Restaurant and Jungle Safari.
