IndiGo, which is currently operating more than 105 domestic flights from Terminal 3, will move all its flights with numbers between 6E2000 and 6E2999 to Terminal 2.
In phase 1 of reopening T2, these flights will cater to major cities including Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Bengaluru, Chennai, Guwahati, Indore, Jammu, Kochi, Lucknow, Patna, Srinagar, Trivandrum and Visakhapatnam among others.
In the next phase from October 8, flights to at least 12 more destinations including Kolkata, Mumbai, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Goa, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Madurai and Nagpur will start operating from T2.
Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) announced that T2 will resume operations with 96 flights per day, which will be increased to 180 by the end of October. While 11 check-in counters have been created for GoAir, 16 such counters have been created for IndiGo.
Why are these flights being shifted to Terminal 2?
Earlier this month, the government allowed airlines to operate up to 60 per cent of their pre-COVID capacity. The Delhi Airport has reopened T2 due to the subsequent rise in the number of flights being operated by airlines as per the new order.
Along with this, reopening T2 will not only accommodate the growing flight capacity, but also allow the airport to maintain social distancing guidelines while providing passengers with a safe and comfortable travel experience.
