The initiative will be a great step towards connecting “unserved” and “underserved” aviation sectors, like Jharsuguda, Kishangarh and Lakhimpur. It will also cater to the rising air passenger demand of the country, according to Shilpa Bhatia, SpiceJet Chief Commercial Officer.
The UDAN scheme was launched in 2016 to make airfares affordable, develop airports in small cities, and facilitate greater connectivity across the nation. The word “UDAN” is an acronym for “Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik”.

The airline will be able to enhance its network in the domestic sector through this initiative. Two kinds of aircraft—Boeing 737 and Q400—will be used on these new and boosted routes.
