Starting May 18, the Delhi-Thiruvananthapuram Rajdhani Express will no longer halt in Goa.
This decision has been taken after more than 25 people tested positive for coronavirus in Goa. Notably, the fresh cases emerged nearly a month after the state declared itself coronavirus-free.
Some of the patients who tested positive for the virus recently include passengers who had arrived in Goa by the special train, which halted at Madgaon.
However, the Nizamuddin Express operating between Thiruvananthapuram and Delhi will continue to take a stop at Madgaon railway station.
To clarify this, in a statement Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said, “We have noticed that none of the passengers who have arrived by Nizamuddin Express have tested positive so far. Also, very few people get off this train at the Madgaon railway station.”
The total number of active coronavirus cases in Goa is now 29.
