Soon, passengers flying from Chennai Airport will not ‘face’ the need to carry boarding passes as the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is planning to implement DigiYatra, a facial recognition verification system by 2021.
DigiYatra is a government initiative that will allow passengers to be automatically processed at airports based on facial recognition systems at checkpoints. These include entry-point check, security check, aircraft boarding check as well as self-bag drop and check-in.

Search FlightsFor this, passengers will have to register on the Digi Yatra portal and then go through a one-time facial verification at the airport’s departure terminal.
It is to be noted that while DigiYatra is already implemented at Bangalore and Hyderabad Airports, whereas trials for the same are going on at the Delhi Airport.
