Early morning at around 5:30 am, fifteen coaches of the Ajmer-Sealdah Express (train number – 12987) went off the tracks near Rura, around 70 kms from Kanpur. Initially, it was reported that two people are killed and around 26 are injured. Later, railways cleared that the accident hasn’t taken any lives but has left 44 people injured.
The accident took place when the train was crossing a bridge built over a dry canal. Rail traffic between Etawah and Kanpur is majorly affected by the accident. Reason for the accident is still not known and investigation will be carried out for the same. Immediate medical help is provided to the injured and a medical train from Kanpur has already arrived on the scene.
