With a recent rise in COVID-19 cases across India, state governments have once again updated their interstate movement rules. Today, we bring you the latest news for Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Assam.

Goa
Passengers arriving by air/road/rail from Kerala into Goa have been asked to carry a negative RT-PCR test report not older than 72 hours for entry. Arrivals from other states, however, can show any other kind of ICMR-approved COVID-negative test report (TrueNat/CBNAAT/RAT).

Uttar Pradesh
Passengers visiting Uttar Pradesh by air/road/rail between August 1–15 from states experiencing a high COVID-19 caseload have to show one of these documents at the point of entry:
- A negative RT-PCR test report for a sample collected between July 28 and July 31
- A certificate of complete vaccination (two doses) for COVID-19
This rule currently applies to arrivals from Maharashtra, Kerala, Tripura, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Mizoram. Here’s the advisory:
On August 9, the state’s Directorate of Medical & Health Services will publish an update on dgmhup.gov.in which may modify the list of states mentioned above.
Post that, passengers arriving from those locations between August 16–31 will have to show one of these documents for entry:
- A negative RT-PCR test report for a sample collected between August 12 and August 15
- A certificate of complete vaccination (two doses) for COVID-19
Karnataka
Travellers arriving into Karnataka by air/road/rail from Maharashtra and Kerala now have to produce a negative RT-PCR test report not older than 72 hours for entry. This is irrespective of the traveller’s vaccination status.
The state has granted exemptions for this rule to only three categories of arrivals: children below the age of two, constitutional and healthcare workers, and those travelling for emergencies. Read more:

Tamil Nadu
Starting August 5, travellers visiting Tamil Nadu from Kerala via air/road/rail will have to carry a negative RT-PCR test report or a final vaccination certificate (two doses). The test needs to be taken within 72 hours of the journey, while the vaccine’s second jab needs to be taken 14 days before the date of entry into Tamil Nadu.
Apart from this, all domestic travellers (except those coming from Puducherry) must also register on tnepass.tnega.org for a movement pass before arrival.
Assam
According to an update shared by Vistara, all flight passengers landing in Assam will now have to undergo a mandatory paid RT-PCR test on arrival. The test will be free for fully vaccinated travellers.
Post this, a seven-day home quarantine is mandatory for all arrivals, even if they test negative. See the announcement:
