As per the recent reports, the fare of lower berths will be soon increased by Indian Railways. The fare might increase by INR 50 per booking. In case of flights, there is a huge demand of window seats. Similarly, the lower berths in trains are most sought-after. At present, railway passengers can select their berths while making a reservation on Indian Railways.
Lower berth is considered to be the most comfortable berth in trains. The berth is well-ventilated, has easy access to washrooms and is convenient while getting off at a station. You also get an extra table to have your meals, keep your laptop and other stuff. Lower berths are mostly preferred by old-age people and families travelling with children.
As per another update from Indian Railways, travelling in AC-3 tier coach is soon going to be a luxury as many high-tech features will be added. The manufacturing cost of an ordinary AC 3-tier coach is approximately INR 2.7 crore. An additional 20 lakhs will be added to each coach’s manufacturing cost to incorporate these features.
The exciting 8 features to be added are —
1.There will be two plug points and six USB ports in every cabin.
2. Reading lights for all berths.
3. Colour of the train will be beige-cream grey.
4. Separate toilets for men and women.
5. Middle table will have a covered dustbin .
6. CCTV cameras near doors.
7. Smoke detector alarms near the doors.
8. Tea-coffee vending machines in every coach.
