Rail Updates: Four Rajdhani Trains Get a ‘Tejas’ Upgrade, New Humsafar Express & More!

The Indian Railways has announced a string of new updates that’s going to make train travellers very happy. 

The new updates are regarding four popular Rajdhani Express trains, a new Humsafar Express and the Mumbai – Ahmedabad Tejas Express.

Four Rajdhani Express trains get Tejas coaches

The Railways had introduced Tejas sleeper coaches to four pairs of Rajdhani Express trains. The trains are:

> Train no. 20501/02 Agartala – Anand Vihar Rajdhani Express, operated by the Northeast Frontier Railway.


> Train no. 12951/52 Mumbai – New Delhi Rajdhani Express, operated by the Western Railway.

> Train no. 12953/54 Mumbai – Nizamuddin August Kranti Rajdhani Express, operated by the Western Railway.

> Train no. 12309/10 Rajendra Nagar – New Delhi (Patna Rajdhani) Express, operated by the East Central Railway.

The ultra-modern Tejas coaches feature many facilities to increase passenger comfort, including automatic entrance doors, passenger announcement/passenger information system, fire and smoke detection system, LED lights, CCTV camera and improved lavatories.


New Humsafar Express train

A new Humsafar Express train has been started between Rajasthan’s Ajmer and Tamil Nadu’s Rameshwaram. 

While train no. 20973 Ajmer – Rameshwaram Humsafar express began its run on Saturday, December 18; train no. 20974 Rameshwaram – Ajmer Humsafar Express will begin its run on Tuesday, December 21.

The two trains will operate on a weekly basis, and you can check their stoppages and timings below:

Frequency increased for Mumbai – Ahmedabad Tejas Express

The frequency of train no. 82901/82902 Mumbai – Ahmedabad – Mumbai Tejas Express has now been increased to 5 days a week, with effect from tomorrow, December 22.

The train, which earlier ran on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, will now also operate every Wednesday.

As per rail sources, the move has been taken to accommodate passenger rush during Christmas and New Year festivities. An additional AC chair car with a capacity of 78 passenger seats will also be added to the train from December 22.
