The Kumbh Mela event at Prayagraj will start from January 15 and end on March 4, 2019. Considered to be the world’s largest religious event, it is expected to have more than 100 million devotees from across the world.
To prevent any panic situation at the event, the National Transporter is doing its best for crowd management. In this first of its kind initiative by Indian Railways, IBM Intelligent Video Analytics will come into service. This will help in crowd control at not only the railway stations but also adjoining areas during the festival.
North Central Railway General Manager, Rajeev Chaudhary said, “the action plan for the event has been finalized. Indian Railways will be using technology in a significant way in order to facilitate crowd movement in a smooth way. Other than IBM, which will provide video analytics service using AI for crowd control, several powerful CCTVs will be set up to monitor the situation.”
