Railways to Reduce Mumbai AC Local Train Fare by 50% from May 5

Good news for Mumbaikars!

In a huge relief to local train commuters, the Indian Railways has decided to reduce the fares by 50%. The Railway Ministry on Sunday issued the rationalised fare rates for single journey tickets of air-conditioned (AC) local trains and the first class of ordinary train services.

The new fare structure will come into effect from 5th May 2022. 

The current fare in AC EMUs for a 5-kilometre journey is ₹65, which will be reduced to ₹35 once the new fare structure is implemented.

Below are the fare changes on popular routes:

Kalyan – CSMT: The rationalised fare for a first-class single journey would be ₹100 as against ₹165 earlier. For AC single journeys, travellers will have to pay only ₹105 instead of ₹210.

Thane – CSMT: The rationalised fare for a first-class single journey would be ₹85 as against ₹140 earlier. For AC single journeys, travellers will have to pay only ₹95 instead of ₹180.

Please note that no change has been made in the season ticket fares for both these classes.
