As there are severe delays in train operations sometimes, Indian Railways has decided to play video messages on platform information screens explaining the reasons behind trains running late. The decision has been taken to seek the cooperation of passengers.
A railway source said that a one-minute video clip appealing to passengers to be patient in event of any train delay will be played at every railway station, starting this week.
While the video will be played on information screens at stations, its audio, in which the narrator talks about the track maintenance work undertaken by the Railways, will be played on loop across stations to maximise its reach.
The video will apologise for the delay, and will also state that the track maintenance work will give passengers a better travelling experience in the future. “Please be patient, your patience will make your future better” is the motto of the video.
According to official data, the punctuality of Indian Railways has gone down in 2017-2018 with 30% of the trains running late in comparison to the two previous financial years.
Railways wants to ensure that there would be minimum delays once the track maintenance work is complete.
