The Indian Railways has decided to offer affordable meals and packaged water designed specially for general coach passengers to make their travel experience better.

The meals have been categorized into two options. The first option, priced at ₹20, consists of seven ‘pooris’ served with dry ‘aaloo’ and pickle. For those looking for a more diverse selection, the second option priced at ₹50 offers an assortment of regional dishes from across India, including Rice, Rajma, Chhole, Khichdi, Kulche, Bhature, Pav bhaji, and Masala dosa.
The Railway Board has issued instructions to concerned officials to make provision for economy meals and affordable packaged drinking water to be served through counters near General coaches on the platforms.
The implementation of these extended service counters at the platforms is being conducted as a trial for a duration of six months. Presently, this provision has been introduced at 64 stations.
