The Indian Railways has fixed a quota for ‘Divyangs’-differently-abled passengers to make their journey a hassle-free experience. All the necessary measures are being taken by the Railways for  smooth functioning of the new policy which is expected to be announced this week. Under this policy, all the railway stations are being made accessible for a smooth entry of differently-abled travellers.

This recent move by the Railways is due to an incident wherein wheelchair bound athlete, Subarna Raj, was unable to get a lower berth and she had to sleep on the floor of Nagpur- Nizamuddin Garib Rath express.

The Railway Minister, Mr. Suresh Prabhu, had already ordered an inquiry into the incident and instructed corrective measures to avoid any such incidents in the future.
