In a special initiative, the North Eastern Railways has decided to hand over all operations of the Gorakhpur–Nautanwa passenger train to women staff to commemorate International Women’s Day on March 8.
Train operations include driving, ticket, signal management, security and sanitation.

Search TrainsRight from the loco-pilot to co-loco pilot, coach attendant, guard, coach conductor, ticket checker, security staff and civic staff, the staff of the passenger train no. 55141 will be entirely made up of women.
The train starts from Gorakhpur and goes up till Nautanwa railway station in Maharajganj district of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Apart from operating the train, female staff will also be deployed at the Gorakhpur and Nautanwa railway stations to welcome passengers on March 8.
Moreover, the LED screens mounted on the two stations will be telecasting women-oriented programmes all day long.
