Good news for the Northeastern states! Indian Railways is set to introduce the nation’s first semi-high speed train for the Northeast that will run between Guwahati and New Jalpaiguri.

The stoppages for Guwahati–New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express train are yet to be decided.
The Vande Bharat Express allotted for the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) zone will have 16 coaches and will be able to run at a maximum speed of 110 kmph.
This semi-high speed train is equipped with advanced state-of-the-art safety features including an indigenously developed safety system – KAVACH.
The introduction of semi-high speed trains in the NFR zone will boost economic growth as well as tourism in the region. This ultra-modern train will also reduce the travel time of the passengers. The train will prove to be beneficial for the people of Guwahati and its neighbouring areas.
