Indian Railways, with more than 8500 stations, now provides internet service to 158 rural stations through Wi-Fi hotspots.
Wi-Fi services are being provided to passengers under ‘Railwire’, the retail Broadband distribution model of RailTel. Offering users the best Internet connectivity, Railwire Wi-Fi can be used by anyone with a working mobile connection on a smartphone.
Earlier this week, Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said that the number of railway stations with strong Wi-Fi connection has reached 324, helping meet digital aspirations of the country.
