Railways Issues New Timetables for Several Special Trains; Check Here

The Indian Railways has extended the services of several special trains so that passengers can continue to travel conveniently to various destinations in the country.

However, the national transporter has revised the timings of many of these  trains as per the demand of the passengers.

Along with this, some trains have been diverted while others have had their frequency reduced.

Here are the details:

1. Change in timings for eight special trains by the South Western Railways 

The South Western Railways (SWR) has notified about a change in timings for eight special trains under its jurisdiction. The routes covered by these special trains are namely Kacheguda-Mysore, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Coimbatore, KSR Bengaluru-Mysore and Bangalore Cantt.-Guwahati. Most of these changes have already come into effect and passengers can check the new timetables here and here.


2. East Coast Railways extends the services of four special trains with new timings

The East Coast Railways (ECR) has extended the services of the Hatia-Yesvantpur-Hatia Weekly Express Special train and the Tatanagar-Yesvantpur-Tatanagar Weekly Special trains. While earlier these trains were scheduled to run till the first week of January, the ECR has now extended their services till the last week of March 2021 on various dates.

3. Diversion of four major trains due to construction work

Due to the ongoing yard remodeling work being carried out on the Rajahmundry railway station of the Vijayawada division which comes under the South Central Railways, the services of four trains between Okha-Puri and Gandhidham-Visakhapatnam have been diverted on various dates in the first week of January.

4. Reduction in frequency of the Sampark Kranti Special train between Ahmedabad and New Delhi

The Western Railways has decided to reduce the frequency of train numbers 02917 and 02918 which operate between Ahmedabad and Hazrat Nizamuddin from tri-weekly to weekly basis from 15th January, 2021.


Train no. 02917 Ahmedabad-Hazrat Nizamuddin Sampark Kranti Special, which currently operates on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday will thereafter only operate on Monday.

In the opposite direction, train no. 02918 Hazrat Nizamuddin Sampark Kranti Special, which currently operates on every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday will thereafter only operate on Saturday.
