Railways Have Served More Than 20 Lakh Free Meals During Lockdown

Indian Railways has distributed over 20 lakh meals to the needy during the nationwide lockdown.

Several railway organisations teamed up to feed hot cooked meals to those in need.


The food was prepared with the help of IRCTC base kitchens, RPF resources and the contribution of various NGOs.

IRCTC provided almost 11.6 lakh meals, and RPF helped with nearly 3.6 lakh meal boxes. Commercial and other railway departments, as well as NGOs, also helped with a large number of meals.

While distributing food, railway officials are observing social distancing. IRCTC is also preparing to serve more and more people during the lockdown.
