Railways Takes Several Passenger-Friendly Measures for the Festive Rush

With Diwali and Chhath Puja right around the corner, the entire country is preparing to celebrate these auspicious occasions with their families at home, leading to a huge increase in the number of travellers.

Keeping this record increase in mind, the Railways is taking several measures to ensure passengers do not face any trouble while booking tickets for their respective routes.

Search Trains

These measures include introducing additional coaches to existing trains so that more passengers can be accommodated, extending popular trains and even adding new trains on routes that are facing high demands.

So without any further ado, let’s take a look at each of these new measures in detail and the routes that will be benefiting from them:


Additional Coaches

The South Western Railway has added additional second class sleeper, AC 3 tier and general second class coaches to as many as 50 popular trains:

The Western Railway had also recently attached additional coaches to ten trains, thereby increasing the number of berths:

Extended trains

The Railways has also extended several popular trains till the end of December 2021, and some have even been extended till the end of January 2022:


New trains

And finally, several new trains have been added by various rail zones over the past few days. As many as 38 new trains have been started by the Railways just last week, with 20 being operated by the Northern Railway and the rest being operated by the Central Railway and Western Railway amongst other zones.

The Northern Railway will also be running 30 new festival special trains on various dates in the upcoming days:

These additional measures by the national transporter are sure to help passengers avoid waitlisting and find tickets for their favourite routes.
