18th December, 2017: 12 Trains Cancelled and 15 Delayed in North India Due to Poor Visibility

With cold waves engulfing  New Delhi, train schedules largely got affected. As per the reports, 12 trains got cancelled and more than 15 trains were late due to zero visibility.  Railways alerted passengers about the delays and the cancellations through text messages. Read more..


19th December, 2017: Railway Board Gives a Green Flag to a Rs. 12,000 Crore Proposal

The Railway Board has cleared Rs. 12,000 crore proposal to equip 6,000 electric locos with European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2. It is a radio-based system which continuously sends data of the train to the Radio Block Centre (RBC) to report its exact position and direction. 20th December, 2017: Almost 2 lakh complaints of choking, foul smelling bio-toilets

As per a report by CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General of India), Railways received almost two lakh complaints regarding choking, foul smelling and non-functional bio-toilets in passenger trains in 2016-2017. In its report on ‘Induction of bio-toilets in passenger coaches in Indian Railways’, CAG stated that out of 613 trains being handled in 32 coaching depots it audited, 160 trains did not have bio-toilets. The remaining 453 trains that had 25,080 bio-toilets, there were 1,99,689 instances of complaints or deficiencies. Read more here..


22nd December, 2017: Indian Railway to run Holiday Special Trains between Kalka-Shimla Route

Indian Railways has announced holiday special train service between Kalka and Shimla. Northern Railway has decided to run holiday special trains between Kalka, Haryana and Shimla, Himachal Pradesh for passenger convenience during the ongoing holiday season. Read more..
