Shahrukh Khan’s next release, Raees, is going to hit the theatres on 25th January across India. The marketing and PR firm of the movie thought of a unique way of promoting this film by taking a train journey from Mumbai to Delhi with Shahrukh accompanied by his cast and crew.
The Journey
The bollywood superstar along with his team boarded the August Kranti Express for Delhi and Shahrukh was there in one of the AC compartments with his producer, Ritesh Sidhwani and director, Rahul Dholakia.
What Went Wrong
By the time August Kranti reached Baroda Railway station, fans already got to know about Shahrukh’s presence and they started queuing up to catch a glimpse of their favourite actor. This resulted in huge chaos at the station, following which the train had to be stopped for about 10 to 15 minutes.
The local police had to intervene as the crowd was going berserk after spotting Shahrukh Khan and there was a lathi charge by the police which resulted in a stampede like situation, injuring several people and one person even lost his life. According to reports, former councillor Farid Khan passed away due to suffocation.
