For Vande Bharat Express, Indian Railways is going to upgrade the tracks in Kerala in two phases. Under Phase-1, ₹381 crores has been sanctioned for converting the entire track from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram to a speed potential of 110 kmph.
The second phase will involve straightening the turns and other necessary adjustments and will take two to three-and-a-half years to be completed. After this, the speed potential of the track will be increased to 130 kmph.
These trains are equipped with modern amenities. They have GPS-based information systems, CCTV cameras, vacuum-based bio-toilets, automatic sliding doors, and more.
