With this, Hubballi got its name registered in the Guinness Book of World Records. It is a major hub for trade and commerce in North Karnataka and has connecting railway lines towards Bengaluru, Hosapete and Vasco-Da-Gama/Belagavi.

The newly constructed platform is expected to alleviate crowding and enhance the travel experience for train passengers by increasing efficiency. It will cater to the transportation requirements of the Hubballi–Dharwad region. It will also boost the operational capacity of the yard to accommodate additional trains in both directions. This will avoid detention of express trains and will save time.

The second-longest platform is now at the Gorakhpur Junction Railway Station, spread over a span of 1366.33 metres. Meanwhile, the third-longest platform in the world, measuring 1180.5 metres, is also located in India at Kollam Junction.
