Apart from this, the Dabhoi–Chandod section has been turned into a broad-gauge line, and a new line has been introduced between Chandod and Kevadiya. The PM added that these routes will improve travel to other holy sites in Gujarat like Karnali, Poicha, and Garudeshwar, which are known for their old Hindu temples.

Visitors may also get to experience a slice of tribal life, as 200 homestay rooms are being developed in Adivasi villages in the Narmada Valley.

Kevadiya Station gets world-class design

About 15 minutes from the Statue of Unity, the new Kevadiya Station has been built with a sleek exterior and modern facilities.

1

As you drive in, a model of the Statue will greet you outside, and the surrounding area has a big parking space, landscaped areas, a theme park, food courts, and a kids’ play area.

2

Once you go into the station, the first two floors have AC waiting rooms and a VVIP lounge, while the third floor has a viewing gallery from where you can spot the original Statue of Unity in the distance.

Kevadiya is also the country’s first station to be certified as a green building by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). This means it is an environmentally friendly structure, built keeping low emissions in mind.

Energy efficient lighting, rainwater harvesting, waterless urinals and turning green waste into fertiliser are some of the green measures installed at the station.

We hope this update helps you plan a fun rail journey. Happy travels!
