Around 10.05 pm on Friday night, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik tweeted a proposal for a new line between Puri and Konark. With a positive response to the same, Railway minister Suresh Prabhu replied to his tweet by 10.08 pm.

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik suggested in his tweet that the state should share 50% of the total project cost for the new rail line from Puri to Konark. This step is taken to build a new railway line that will boost the tourism potential of the state.
Surprisingly, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu accepted his proposal on twitter about the same within three minutes. Now, the state will share half of the total project cost where a new railway line will be introduced between Puri and Konark.
As per the tweet by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, “CM @Naveen_Odisha urged upon Union Min @sureshpprabhu for early sanction of this project & signing an MoU for timely completion,”
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu immediately tweeted him back saying: “We are ready to sign it any day, we are waiting for it, as it was our initiative to share ownership with states of these JVs.”
Patnaik also stated that with the state’s contribution, the rate of return for the railways would be more than 20%.
