Keeping in mind the welfare of the passengers, Indian Railways has decided to provide health-related facilities to their passengers. Helpline number 138 can be accessed by passengers in case of a medical emergency during train journeys. Also, for security concerns, passengers can call 182/1800-111-322(voice).
In addition to this, these are some of the other facilities that railways has readied:
1) Pay Rs. 100 and get this amazing benefit
In a moving train, if the passenger doesn’t feel all too well, a doctor can be called onboard by calling 138 and paying Rs. 100. This feature can be availed on call or by twitter (@RailMinIndia).
2) Claim your insurance!
In order to claim insurance for an unfortunate incident that happened to you while on board a train, the nominee has to submit a report by the railway authority confirming the train accident. Along with this, they also have to submit the claim form, a medical report, death and disability certificate, ID proof, NEFT details, and a cancelled cheque. The claim will be settled within 15 days of the submission of all the papers.
3) Insurance can be claimed from these three companies
IRCTC has partnered with three companies for insurance. These companies include ICICI Lombard, Royal Sundram and Shriram General Insurance. If you want to claim insurance, please update the name of the nominee through the website of the insurance company prior to the visit. In case the name is not updated, there might be a delay in receiving the claim.
