In a recent bizarre order issued by the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh, wedding and other ceremonial occasions will not be allowed on the ‘Shahi Snan’ dates of Ardh Kumbh Mela 2019.
This ban is also applicable a day ahead and after the Shahi Snan on 15th and 21st January, 4th, 10th and 19th February and 4th March 2019.
The reason behind this order is a large number of devotees reaching Prayagraj on these dates for taking the holy dip.
As most of the marriage halls and guest houses have already been booked for the ceremonies, the families will either have to change the dates or shift their venue to another district.
A senior district official said, “The order would help in dealing with crowds that are expected on bathing dates. It may cause some inconvenience but in the end, will help the people.”
