Now rail journeys will be more pocket-friendly and convenient; thanks to the welcome move announced by the Indian Railways that passengers will no longer have to pay any service charge on payment made through credit and debit cards.
The fact that one wouldn’t have to pay an additional service charge of Rs. 30 (on booking tickets at PRS counters) while making payment through debit/credit cards, is definitely a relief! And, we all know, how convenient it is to simply make cashless payments.
Moreover, some counters at the railways are dimly lit and little shady, so it’s always better not to carry so much cash, which means less chances of getting attacked by robbers.
It’s interesting to note that starting June 1, the Indian Railways has already come up with its new guidelines, main highlights being confirmed ticket facility and refund on Tatkal tickets.
Here is a list of developments you need to know:
1. 50% cash refund, in case in case a passenger cancels a Suvidha train
2. No more hassle of booking tickets in regional languages
3. Passengers will be provided with the facility of “wake up call destination” service
4. The premium trains will no longer be in service
5. While one will be able to book sleeper coach ticket between 11 AM and 12 PM, Tatkal window for AC booking will be available between 10 AM and 11 AM
6. Only mobile tickets will be valid in Shatabdi Express and Rajdhani trains
7. The alternate facility of Suvidha trains will be provided to waitlisted passengers
8. Owing to the increase in the number of coaches in Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express, it will be easier for passengers to get confirmed tickets
