What’s Venice without boats? We’ll find out soon!
The government has passed a new regulation banning certain types of boats from the Grand Canal, the Cannaregio Canal and all other waterways of Venice.
Starting August 1, recreational boats such as canoes, kayaks, paddleboards and others are prohibited in the canal, for safety purposes.
And don’t worry, you can still go on a gondola ride, as the traditional Venetian watercraft are still allowed.
For people who live or own businesses in Venice are exempt from a complete ban and will be able to use their boats during restricted times.
So, if you’re planning to visit Venice anytime soon, don’t forget to set aside a few euros for using the public transport.
