In an effort to avoid theft of bedrolls by the passengers, Indian Railways has issued a new rule. Earlier, coach attendants used to collect the bed-rolls after passengers deboard the train but now the bedrolls will be collected 30 minutes before the destination arrives.
Minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohain, has informed in Lok Sabha that coach attendants have been advised to collect the bedrolls from passengers 30 minutes before reaching the destination. In case of missing linen, the cost of the linen will be recovered from the concerned staff or from linen distributing contractors.
Earlier, when the Tejas Express was launched in 2017, the passengers had stolen the headphones and damaged the LED screens. Railways has also started to chain the toilet mugs to avoid theft.
