New Travel Guidelines for Himachal, West Bengal, 3 Other States

Today’s update on the latest domestic travel guidelines comprises new entry requirements as notified by five Indian states.

These states are: Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Assam.

Here are the details:

Himachal Pradesh

To ensure that all travellers have a safe experience, the state government has announced that all incoming travellers will now be required to carry a certificate of full vaccination (two doses) upon their arrival in Himachal. 

In case travellers do not have a full vaccination certificate, they must carry a negative RT-PCR report (issued within 72 hours) or a RAT negative report (issued within 24 hours).

The new guidelines will be effective starting tomorrow, August 13.

West Bengal

In a new set of rules that have come into effect from August 8, the West Bengal government has announced that all flight passengers arriving in the state from Pune, Mumbai and Chennai will be required to carry a negative RT-PCR report. The test for this report must have been conducted within 72 hours of departure, irrespective of their vaccination status.

Passengers travelling to the state coming from all other domestic destinations except the above three will be required to carry either a proof of full vaccination (two doses) or a negative RT-PCR report with the test conducted within 72 hours of departure.

Tamil Nadu

Budget carrier IndiGo has shared new travel guidelines for Tamil Nadu, according to which travellers coming to the state from Kerala must bring either a certificate of full vaccination (two doses) or a negative RT-PCR report (issued within 72 hours):

Karnataka

Karnataka has issued new guidelines, according to which travellers coming from the state of Maharashtra are required to have a negative RT-PCR test report (sample collected within 72 hours of arrival), irrespective of their vaccination status. 


Assam

Assam has issued new rules regarding on-arrival testing in the state. As per a new update, all passengers must undergo RT-PCR testing on arrival. The test will be conducted free of cost for fully vaccinated (two doses) passengers. 

After this, passengers must stay in home quarantine for seven days (even if they test negative).
