In today’s top news, while the government has notified about the extension on the suspension of commercial international flights, two Indian carriers have announced important connections to the US and the UK from major Indian cities. 1. Ban on commercial international flights extended till December 31
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) India has notified that the ban on scheduled international commercial passenger flights to and from India has now been extended till December 31st,2020.
However, this does not include flights that have been specifically approved by the DGCA which most notably includes flights to and from countries that have air bubble arrangements with India.
Along with this, the DGCA has notified that international scheduled flights may be allowed on select routes on case to case basis.
2. New non-stop flights between Hyderabad and Chicago from 13th January
Air India has announced that it will be operating flights between Hyderabad and Chicago from 13th January till 26th March 2021. The booking for this route is expected to begin shortly. The announcement of this new route comes soon after the Indian carrier notified about new flights between Bengaluru and San Francisco from January 11, 2021.
3. Vistara announces direct flights between London and Mumbai
After commencing direct flights between London and Delhi, Indian carrier Vistara has now announced that it will be operating direct flights between London and Mumbai from 16th January, 2021. Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport announced this information on their official twitter handle:
