Mumbai local trains resume operations; know all about it

In a major step, the Central and Western Railways have started Mumbai local trains for essential workers and private medical sector employees recognised by the state government.

Kindly Note: Indian Railways have requested general passengers/public to  not rush to the stations and believe in any rumours as these special suburban services will not be available to them.

 

Approximately 1.25 lakh essential staff workers are expected to travel by these trains. Also, certain booking windows will be open, on which respective staff will be facilitated on showing their government ID cards. It has been decided to extend the validity of season tickets to the extent of days lost.

Search Trains

Passengers need to carry their valid ID cards to enter the station premises. Later on, a QR based e-pass will be provided to the passenger with colour coding to enable swiffer ticket checking. Multiple rounds of checking to ensure only essential service providers are using these trains.

To maintain social distancing, only 700 passengers per local train is now allowed. Also, passengers who are medically fit and do not come from containment regions will be allowed to travel.

In case of any emergency, ambulances along with medical workers are available  at every railway station.
