Following the heavy downpour in Mumbai, at least 54 flights have been diverted from the airport and another 52 have been cancelled.
Mumbai Airport PRO said, “A SpiceJet flight SG6237, which was coming from Jaipur to Mumbai, skid and overshot the main runway at around 11.45 pm on Monday night.”
Presently, a secondary runway is in operation at the Mumbai airport and a number of subsequent flights have been diverted to Ahmedabad and Bengaluru.
Meanwhile, the official Twitter handle of the Directorate General of Information and Public Relations (DGIPR), Government of Maharashtra, tweeted:
The Maharashtra government declared a public holiday in 3 districts of the state — Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburban and the Thane district.
