Lockdown Extension: Delhi, UP, Bihar, 12 Other States & UTs Make New Announcements

As many as 14 Indian states and union territories have decided to extend ongoing COVID lockdowns, but since India is recording a steady decline in daily fresh case count, many of these destinations have changed their lockdown guidelines and added a few relaxations as well.

Today we bring you the latest lockdown guidelines from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Haryana, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Jammu & Kashmir, Telangana, Puducherry, Kerala, Goa and Tamil Nadu.

Please note: Despite the changing guidelines, air and rail travel remains unaffected and passengers can continue to travel to/from airports and railway stations with a valid boarding pass or train ticket. However, it is advisable that you check the latest state-wise guidelines before travelling.

Delhi

Delhi has started the process of unlocking in phases from today. Keeping the daily wage workers in mind, manufacturing and construction businesses have been allowed to resume work, albeit with all safety precautions and in staggered shifts. 


Uttar Pradesh

The Uttar Pradesh government has issued a new set of guidelines, allowing a host of activities outside the containment zones. Notably, markets in the state have been allowed to open between 7 am and 7 pm. However, a daily night curfew between 7 pm and 7 am will continue to be imposed, along with the weekend lockdown. Here are the complete guidelines:

Uttarakhand

The Uttarakhand government has extended the ongoing COVID curfew in the state for another week. The curfew will remain in place in the state till 6am on June 8.
Meanwhile, some relaxation has been provided in the opening timings of shops selling essential goods.

Bihar

Keeping the encouraging impact of the lockdown in mind, Bihar has extended the lockdown in  the state till June 8, with certain relaxations for trade and commerce activities. As per media reports, shops and business establishments will be allowed to open between 6 am and 2 pm on alternate days as decided by the district magistrates.

Haryana

Haryana has extended the lockdown in the state, imposed under ‘Mahamari Alert – Surakshit Haryana’, till June 7. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar tweeted that shops will be allowed to open in the state on an odd-even basis between 9 am and 3 pm.

Maharashtra

In a series of tweets, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced the extension of lockdown in the state, this time till June 15. A district-wise review, to decide whether to make restrictions more stringent or relaxed, will also be taken in this regard. He also appealed to the general public to continue taking stringent precautions against the pandemic.


Himachal Pradesh

The hilly state’s new set of guidelines detail an extension of lockdown till June 7. In the new set of guidelines, the state government has allowed markets and shops to open between 9 am and 2 pm on weekdays. Shops selling grocery and other essentials will also be allowed to function between 9 am and 2 pm on the weekends. Detailed guidelines:

Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh has opted for an extension of the curfew in the state, this time till June 10, between 12 pm and 6 am.

Odisha

Issuing a new set of guidelines, the Odisha government has extended the lockdown in the state till June 17. There will also be a complete shutdown in the state on the weekends, starting from 6 pm on Fridays till 5 am on Mondays.

Jammu & Kashmir

The union territory has issued new guidelines, allowing shops, markets, malls and certain other activities to resume with certain instructions. However, lockdown will continue to be imposed in the containment zones, and a daily night curfew between 8 pm and 7 am will also be observed. A weekend curfew from 8 pm on Fridays till 7 am on Mondays has also been announced. Complete guidelines:

Telangana

Telangana has extended the lockdown in the state for ten days starting from May 31. Daily relaxations will be provided between 6 am and 1 pm, with an additional hour to allow people working outside to reach their homes. 


Puducherry

The union territory has also opted for a lockdown extension, this time till June 7. Shops however, will be allowed to open till 12 pm.

Kerala

The state will be under lockdown till June 9, announced Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in a tweet. All industries in the state will be allowed to function with minimal staff (not to exceed 50 percent strength), and banks will function on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, till 5 pm. Along with this, the triple lockdown imposed in Malappuram has also been revoked starting from May 30. 

Goa

Goa has also opted for a curfew extension in the state, this time till June 7.

Tamil Nadu

The total lockdown in the state, slated to end on May 31, has been extended till June 7 by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
