Airbus, on 19th July, successfully completely the maiden test flight of its brand new, whale-shaped Beluga XL in Toulouse, France. And if you haven’t noticed already, the aircraft is painted with a Beluga whale’s face on the front.
For a long time, people had noticed similarities between the Airbus A330-700L cargo plane and the Beluga whale but this time Airbus decided to give it a face as well.
This new variant, Beluga XL, has been designed to have the largest cargo capacity of any non-military aircraft in operation and is 20 feet longer and 3 feet wider than its previous self.
The aircraft is the first of the five to be built by the European jet-maker giant by 2023.
