Two derailments in less than 2 months has raised the question of Railway security in the country. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on his latest interview showed his anger towards the derailments. He also announced that we have to bring down such cases and safety inspections have to be more vigorous.
To avoid such incidents in future, The Indian Railways has now decided to use high-end technology on “war footing” to reduce the dependence of manual systems. This system will also ensure passenger safety to a large extent. As per the declaration, moderns equipments will be used by the railways to detect fractures on rail tracks. The safety mechanisms will be inspected by experts from Korea and Japan.
Also, Suresh Prabhu has ensured that tracks will be inspected on a daily basis under the supervision of railway officers. PSUs under railways like RITES, IRCON and RVNK would also be involved in the operation and will suggest safety measures for the improvement.
He also announced that there will be no dearth of funds for safety works, as the Finance Ministry has already approved the fund request.
