Indian Railways has transformed the Kumbh Mela ground at Prayagraj into a free high-speed Wi-Fi Zone. This move comes as a relief to crores of pilgrims who have complained over the past month regarding poor connectivity issues.
The free high-speed Wi-Fi has been provided by RailTel, a subsidiary of the Indian Railways.

Devotees will be provided free Wi-Fi only for the first one hour. To continue using internet services, they will have to purchase a coupon for Rs.10 which will extend the usage limit to one day. In light of these advancements, Kumbh Mela has been termed “Smart Kumbh Mela” by the administration.
To address any inconveniences faced by visitors in using the Wi-Fi, over 10,000 posters have been placed in and around the grounds. Over 100 people have also been allocated the duty of helping spread the awareness of this service. The average daily user logins have crossed 40,000.
Puneet Chawla, CMD (RailTel), expects the number of users of Wi-Fi service to cross 50 lakh by the end of February.
